Alex Rodriguez singled off Scott Downs.
Hideki Matsui followed by ripping a curveball
into the right-field seats for a game-tying home run.
It was Matsui’s 25th homer of the season and 12th against a left-hander.
Six Yankees have more at-bats against left-handers
than the left-handed-hitting Matsui,
who has 122, but nobody has as many home runs.
“Really, I don’t mind facing left-handers,”
Matsui said through an interpreter.
“I don’t even pay attention to that.
I know they usually bring in a left-hander to face me,
but it doesn’t really make much of a difference.”
