ＣＤＣは米国内の喫煙率２０％を下回ったと発表した。
男女別喫煙率は、男性が２２・３％で、女性が１７・４％。
高齢者より若者の喫煙率が高く、人種による差もあるが
全体的に学歴が高い人ほど喫煙率が低い。
ＣＤＣの専門家は
「たばこ業界は、誤解されそうな情報を流すが、教養のある人ほど惑わされない」
と説明している。
