sardines

八景島シーパラダイス (横浜市金沢区

A shark swims through a school of some 50,000 sardines
in an eight-meter-high tank at Hakkejima Sea Paradise's
Aqua Museum in Kanazawa Ward, Yokohama.

The sardines co-exist with their natural enemies
in the huge tank, such as mackerel, sharks and rays,
and are the stars of the aquarium's
"Super Iwashi (sardines) Illusion" show,
which uses their habit of gathering for food and light
to make them swim together as though dancing.

The show is held three times a day on weekdays,
and four times a day on weekends and national holidays.
