Sharapova Falls Early at Wimbledon
WIMBLEDON, England
Maria Sharapova still has the trappings at Wimbledon.
She gets preferential seeding and preferential treatment,
with her second-round match scheduled on the same Centre Court
where she once celebrated the title as a teenager in need of a cellphone.
But for now,
in this early stage of her comeback from shoulder surgery,
Sharapova’s tennis does not yet live up to her reputation.
